Dr. Fernando Dorrego, M.D. is a primary care physician with 24 years of experience. His practice is “old-fashioned,” meaning he strives to create a relationship with his patients before finding the root causes of their illnesses. This way, the patient stays involved in his or her own treatment plan.
Dr. Fernando enjoys when his patients feel empowered and in full control of their own health. He takes the time to educate his patients on how to identify the factors that affect their body-mind-soul balance. He believes that being close and accessible to his patients is the best way to prevent, diagnose, and treat their ailments.
Dr. Fernando stays active by hiking and swimming, primarily. He grew up exploring trails in the mountains and considers hiking his favorite childhood activity. Today, Dr. Fernando, his husband, and his 14-year-old son enjoy hiking together in the hills of Nashville, Tennesee. In middle school and high school, he also practiced taekwondo.
He graduated from medical school at the School of Medical Science in Santiago, Cuba and completed his residency at the Jamaica Hospital Medical Center in New York City. In 2004, Dr. Fernando worked as a physician in Venezuela before relocating back to the United States to Nashville in 2007.
For his patients looking to improve their overall health and weight management, Dr. Fernando will recommend a dietary program that’s customized to their cultures, lifestyles, and health issues.
