I am “Dr. Meathead,” a board-certified family physician with a focus in lifestyle and musculoskeletal medicine, nutrition, mental health, and corrective exercise. I currently serve as a medical officer in the US Navy, in addition to my work as a strength coach. I also happen to be a prior college football player who currently competes in strongman and the highland games (hence the “Meathead” part). I’ve dabbled in some powerlifting, triathlon, and obstacle racing in the past as well.
Weightlifting and medicine are my passions, and I want to show you all how closely connected the two can be. Just as I use my knowledge of functional anatomy and physiology with my athletes, I bring in all aspects of strength and conditioning to use in the treatment and prevention of disease.
Physical health does not exist in isolation, however, as the mind has an incredible amount of power over the body. I have learned this firsthand not just through my additional training in mind-body medicine, but also during my own battle with depression. It is for this reason that I am a huge advocate for mental health awareness and eliminating the stigma around mental illness. Your mental health IS your physical health, and I am here to help you optimize both.
When I’m not seeing patients or putting in hours in my garage gym, I write articles and make videos for drmeathead.com, hang out with my beautiful wife and dogs, listen to live music, eat burritos, and do pretty much anything that involves the outdoors.
SteadyMD allows me to dig deep with my patients, taking a proactive and preventative approach to care instead of spending money and time on reactionary measures. Let’s make my dream of a stronger, healthier, and happier world come true together.
