Why Are We Doing This?
To provide better care for our patients.
Our healthcare system is broken. The typical primary care doctor has between 2,000 and 5,000 patients. Seriously. That’s not a typo. The average patient visit? 15 minutes. You find a doctor, make an appointment (sometimes several weeks out), drive to the doctor’s office, wait in the waiting room, wait in the exam room, finally see the doctor, have a short visit, leave, drive home. Hope that you’re billed fairly / correctly.
The moment the doctor sees you is the first moment he thinks about you. And the moment you leave he stops thinking about you. Why? He needs to see about 30 patients per day to meet his quota / make a decent living.
And what if you have a follow-up question? What if you forgot to ask something? What if something happens a few days later?
We are proud to be pioneering a completely new model of primary care. With modern technology, we can focus on a limited number of patients, anywhere in the world, and provide really great care. We can be your health partner for the long-term, in the same way that you might have an accountant or financial advisor.
We’re starting by doing this ourselves personally, first for those that follow us online. We thought you might appreciate the opportunity to reserve a spot before anyone else. Next, we hope to expand this across the country with the participation of many other doctors. We think we can realistically improve healthcare in this country in a way that is actually achievable today without massive healthcare reform. An improvement that would provide better care for most Americans: online anytime with the same doctor, in-person when you need it (via the current system of 15 minute appointments with a doctor that doesn’t know you, wasted time in waiting room, little follow up, frustration with health insurance).
